World Poetry Day Celebration at Papine High School

Seven hundred (700) Papine High School students attended the The Rita Marley Foundation (JA) World Poetry Day Celebration.

Top Jamaican poets, internationally acclaimed storyteller, aspiring student poets held the audience’s attention with a delicious feast of poetry and stories.

Seven hundred Papine High School students attended the The Rita Marley Foundation (JA) World Poetry Day Celebration on Wednesday, March 29.

Top Jamaican poets,cultural activists and aspiring student poets held the audience’s attention with a delicious feast of poetry.

Student poets, Akalia Williams recited He is Able, an ode to God; Ashaunie Woodburn, Heroes in tribute to African ancestors and National Heroes; while Shackera Dixon, delivered an emphatic piece beckoning Jamaicans to unite to end violence against girls.

Professional poet, Angela Williams implored students to “focus on education to achieve a better life.”
